CBS' Late Late show host Craig Ferguson,
talking about his iPOD in his smooth Irish/Scottish accent:
"I have an iPOD Nano, It's this teeny, weeny small little device. So small I can't find it! Maybe I swallowed it? Could be why every time I burp I hear Aerosmith!? <laughter and applause> .... Today, Apple announced it's new iPOD that you can watch TV on. What's the point of watching TV on this tiny screen? I want a MEGA, Giant Screen iPod, a giant big screen iPOD to watch TV! Course then I'd be back to square one!"
Earlier in is monologue he says, "I have a digital camera. I cannot figure out how to work it. What the heck is a MEGAPIXEL anyway? What is a PIXEL? Isn't that one of Santa's little helpers?"
Funny stuff I think. Great free advertising for Apple.
Have you noticed how much the iPOD has crept into every day conversation? No matter what I watch on TV, there is at least one iPOD reference or commercial I come across. Finally Apple has got the marketing idea and is playing to the masses and not just the Mac faithful. They never really have to sell to us Mac heads. We buy every new product (and some of the old ones, too) they put out don't we?
I wasn't sure about the iPOD when it came out, going into the music business was a good course for Apple to pursue. I felt the same reservations about the iMac when it came out. Just goes to show you, my feelings about new stuff Apple introduces, is a good barometer for when to buy the stock.
When I feel really negative, make sure to buy Apple stock.
I just hope that my excitement about the new video capable iPod, won't have the adverse effect. I want to go out and get one right away. I won't have to schelp my laptop anymore when I travel! I can listen to music, watch TV or Movies, and not have to squirm about trying to protect my Powerbook from getting crushed by the guy in front of me reclining his seat!
What's next for Apple's iPod? I know that I'll be the first one in line for the iPod PDA/Phone. Watch movies, get email, listen to music, write a letter and send it wirelessly to a printer or around the world, while still in flight to Timbuktu. I'll bet it ain't too far away!
